Many of the early State Farm agents kept their offices in their homes. In January of 1996, the current Kenyon agent, Lyle Wendroth, set up his office at 635 2nd Street in Kenyon.
With such a long-lasting State Farm presence in the Kenyon area, the State Farm office has witnessed multiple historical events. The Kenyon State Farm office says, “We are proud of the State Farm legacy! State Farm has been here, in Kenyon, through the Stock Market Crash of 1929, The Great Depression, World War II, The Korean War, The Vietnam War, 9/11, a multitude of legislative and regulatory challenges… and State Farm is still here. And WE are still here, in Kenyon. According to Dr. Andrew White, a professor at Oxford University, State Farm is the largest organically grown company in the history of the world. Grown one policy at a time, not through mergers and acquisitions.”
State Farm Insurance exists “to help people manage the risks of everyday life, recover from the unexpected, and realize their dreams” (State Farm Mission Statement). State Farm takes pride in being a helping hand throughout the years in the Kenyon community. The Kenyon State Farm office highlights, “We enjoy participating in community events such as the Rose Fest Car Show each year, sponsoring local youth activities, and community projects. And being a stable local business in difficult times.”
