Jake and Alicia Grant are once again sponsoring the Anything Goes event at Jake's Liquor Store this year! It has been a pleasure to be a part of this event, because it's fun to meet new people, and have the opportunity to not only purchase one of a kind products, but also to sell things we no longer need. Think of it as a weekly downsizing!
It's not a rummage sale, and it's not a craft fair. It is not a farmer's market, or an event you HAVE to be at every week. It's Anything Goes!!! You can set up a table once a month, or every week. Some markets charge a fee, but not here! Some events have set hours and expect the vendors to show up every week for the full time....Nope! Some places say you can only sell "this or that", but not at Anything Goes!
When people ask me what is there, I say "anything from car parts to pickles". They get a good laugh out of that, but it's true. Anything you have, whether you created it or not, can be sold here. Have some clothing you no longer wear? Get rid of it! Bake some brownies last night, and need to share? Bring it on! Kids outgrown their toys? I bet there's a kid out there that would love them.
This is a call to action for those of you who want to give it a try, or want to come and check it out. All you have to do is show up, set up a table and a chair, and bring your smile! Some days we have 3 or 4 vendors, and sometimes we have 8 or 10! Do you play music, and have some dvd's to sell? Come and play for us and sell the dvds! Personally, I would love to see the whole grass lot filled with fun things to eat and wear.
Our vendors in the past have brought fresh produce, canned goods, dirty sodas, and artisan breads. Brownies, cookies and freeze dried candy have been known to be there. Remember our youngest vendor, 9 year old Will with his Willures? Or 13 year old Gracie with her beautiful bracelets? It is so moving to see the younger generations get a taste of what it feels like to be proud of their craft, and make some money doing what they love!
So, if you have a bit of time from 4 to 7 every Wednesday throughout the spring, summer and fall, it's time to get out the things you want to sell and bring them to Anything Goes and make yourself some extra cash! Last year there was a wide variety of food trucks set up to feed you while you shop. Who knows what may conspire this year? Drink specials at the new bar? Sales of different liquor and beer? If the weather is nice, you can be sure someone will be there. If you want to know if the food trucks are there, come on down and see, or call Jake's and ask. Looking forward to the warm weather, and maybe this year it won't rain every Wednesday like it did last year!
So gather the things you no longer need, that you have crafted lovingly, or that you have to sell, and we'll see you there!
