What do we do between the harsh winter weather and the joyful arrival of spring around here? We eat!!
On February 19th, the Lion's Club hosted a new event that some people refer to as a Baked Potato Bar. This innovative way of making dinner delicious consists of big baked potatoes that you can put a whole array of toppings into and onto. Imagine all the toppings to enhance this primary staple! Butter, of course, sour cream, chopped green onions, bacon bits, cheeses.... and the list goes on.
It was held at the Wanamingo Community Center from 5 pm to 7:30 pm, and the Lions fed about 60 people. You could come in and sit down to enjoy your dinner, or get take out to bring home and enjoy, or surprise a neighbor with. A freewill donation was taken.
This is one of the events that have been held over the past few years to help fund the new Pickleball court by Torkelson Park in Wanamingo. Instead of asking the townsfolk for donations to get the ball rolling, as they say, instead the Lion's keep coming up with ways to feed us to get to their monetary goal. Have your potato and eat it too!! It's a win/win situation! A big thanks to the Lions Club for yet another fun idea to raise the cash to fund the court that will bring pleasure as well as health to our local Pickleball enthusiasts!
