Caryl Jean Hughes, age 83, of Faribault, died Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Three Links Care Center, Northfield.

Visitation will be held at the Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Thursday, July 20, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a service held at 7:00 p.m. with Winnie Hughes, officiating.

Private interment will be at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Faribault.

Caryl Jean, the daughter of Fred “Haven” and Berniece (Anderson) Wilson was born November 29, 1939, in West Concord. As a child she attended country school and graduated from Kenyon High School in 1957. On February 23, 1962, Caryl was united in marriage to Terrence Charles Hughes in Owatonna. Caryl worked at the Donut Wagon, 3M, Control Data, the Faribault Regional Center for 19 years and most recently she worked at the Allina Health – Faribault Clinic for 10 years. Caryl was a member of the Faribault Eagle’s Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed listening to old tyme music, going to dances with friends and family, baking and cooking her family’s favorites and spending her summers with Terry at LeMieux's Resort on Cedar Lake. Most of all, Caryl’s family and grandchildren meant the world to her.

Survivors include her children, Shelley (Kyle) Fleming of Waseca, Teresa Leite of Volga, South Dakota, Patricia (Mike Brulé) Guillen of Faribault and Mary Murry of Dennison; grandchildren, Matthew, Brian (Jessica), Nicole (Dan), Andrew (Kayla), Abby (Ryan), Joy (Andrew), Kate, Anna, Alicia (Travis) and Elizabeth; many great grandchildren; sisters, Diane VanGuilder of Albert Lea and Bonnie (Don) Knutson of Owatonna; brother, Robert (Sharon) Wilson of Donna, Texas; sisters-in-law, Mary Kay Kuchinka of Northfield and Joanne (Richard) Canfield of Wisconsin; brother-in-law, Michael (Kelly) Hughes of Faribault; sister-in-law, Winnie Hughes of Faribault; daughter, Dawn (Dennis) Armstrong, her children, Diana (Adam), Dane (Jamie), Jennifer (Korbin) and Ian (Nicole) and their families; special friends, Thomas Deneen, Vicky Linnane and Tammy Lips; other relatives and friends.

Caryl was preceded in death by her parents, F. Haven and Berniece Wilson; husband, Terry in 2012; grandchildren, Dustin Leite and Jeffrey Heise; great-grandchildren, Kaidrum and Aedric Stencel and Mason Marx; son-in-law, Joseph Murry; in-laws, Francis (Geraldine) Hughes, Sr.; brothers in law Lloyd VanGuilder, Francis Hughes, Jr., Dennis Hughes, Peter Hughes and Donald Kuchinka.
