Eunice Ruth (Ree) Guttromson, 93, most currently of the Walla Walla Veterans Home in Walla Walla, WA, peacefully passed away on May 9, 2023.

Our beloved mother Eunice was born on May 25, 1929, to Selmer and Selma (Froyum) Ree in Wanamingo, MN and grew up on the family farm. She attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, the Lutheran Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, MN, and Pacific Lutheran University in Parkland, WA. She worked under primitive conditions for the Frontier Nursing Service in the Appalachian Mountains of Kentucky and continued her career in Washington state as a Registered Nurse at Tacoma General Hospital, the Washington Solders Home in Orting, and the Western State Hospital in Lakewood. She met Lester Guttromson at Tacoma First Covenant Church, and they were married in 1954. They eventually settled in Graham, WA, where she went on to have six children. She retired in 1994 and lived in the Spanaway/Tacoma WA area for most of her remaining life.

Our mother was a woman of faith, thoroughly committed to God and family. Proud of her Norwegian heritage, she enjoyed many ethnic treats and food. She had a great sense of humor and wit, enjoyed puzzles and games and treasured her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her love and sacrifice, along with the memories she has created will live on in our hearts.

Eunice was predeceased by her husband Lester Guttromson and brother Sigurd Ree. She will be forever remembered and greatly missed by her sister Audrey Bordson of Wanamingo, MN; daughter Heidi (Andrew) Hutchison of Tacoma; sons Dennis (Kathy) Guttromson of Tonasket, Rodney (Ann Marie) Guttromson of Seattle, Curtis (Marla) Guttromson of Spanaway, Douglas (Jodi) Guttromson of Walla Walla and Ross (Cindy) Guttromson of Albuquerque, NM.

Eunice will be laid to rest beside her late husband at Fir Lane Memorial Park in Spanaway, WA. A celebration of her life for immediate family members will be arranged.
