Gerald Wayne “Jerry” Wallaker, 70, of Wanamingo, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, February 6, 2023. Jerry was born February 26, 1952, in Rochester, the son of Robert “Red” Melroy Wallaker and Geraldine Delores (Schaefer) Wallaker. He was raised in Wanamingo, and a graduate of Wanamingo High School in 1970. Jerry married Linda Lee at Spring Garden Church in December 1971 and the couple celebrated 51 years of marriage together. Jerry worked many years for Gary Braget, Dale Curtin, and Dan Greseth doing dry wall taping. He also worked at Midwest Transmission driving truck. He retired at the age of 65.

Jerry enjoyed playing basketball and coaching women’s softball in his younger years. His annual Lake of the Woods fishing trip with his brothers-in-law, Rueben Berg, Larry Lawson, and his nephews, was always a memorable time for him. He looked forward to going to the VFW in Zumbrota every day for what he called “The Bored” meeting. He loved seeing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Wallaker of Wanamingo; a daughter, Lori (Shawn) Shelstad of Kenyon; a son, Jeremy Wallaker of Wanamingo; 5 grandchildren; 3 ½ great-grandchildren; six sisters, Nancy Raths (Jim Kittelson) of Wanamingo, LaRita (Jim) Brown of Zumbrota, Cheryl (Merlin) Moreland of Dodge Center, Teresa Lawson of Zumbrota, and Brenda (Jack) Harvey of Hager City; and one brother, Steven Wallaker of Rosemount. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Debra McWaters.

He will be missed.

Memorial service was at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wanamingo. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements made by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Larson Chapel.
