Kenyon, MN- Today, Keith Allen, the incumbent representative from Minnesota's House District 19A, officially announced his candidacy for re-election in the communities of Faribault, Janesville, Kenyon, Morristown, Nerstrand, Warsaw and Wanamingo.
“It has truly been a honor to serve as the representative for the House District 19A and work on behalf of the people in our communities,” Allen said. “This fall, while door-knocking across the District, I heard the same concerns over and over: skyrocketing property taxes, billions lost to fraud, and families, retirees, and businesses leaving Minnesota because they can’t afford to stay,” Allen added. “The affordability issues we’re seeing in taxation are a direct result of rushed legislation under one-party control—and it’s only going to get more expensive as more of their policies go into effect. I fought hard for fiscal responsibility, fraud cleanup, and tax relief in my first term—and we made progress. But there is still work to be done that puts Minnesotans first. That is why I am running.”
Central to Allen’s campaign is the following top priorities shaped directly by those doorstep conversations—three priority reforms he will champion in his second term:
1. Fight for transparency of the Fraud, Waste, and Abuse in State Programs like pushing for the statewide “independent” Office of the Inspector General and push for better oversight of government agencies.
2. Cut Taxes and Stop the Exodus of Families, Retirees, and Businesses
I’ll continue pushing to end the unfunded mandates that drive up local taxes, deliver real relief for seniors on fixed incomes, and cut burdensome regulations that drive jobs, farms, and families out of state.
3. Balance the Budget with Commonsense Spending Controls
I’ll keep fighting for a responsible, well-thought-out state budget that prioritizes roads, schools, and public safety while slashing wasteful spending. Common sense isn’t radical—having a balanced budget benefits everybody in our state, not just a few, and ensures our children inherit opportunity instead of debt.
“These priorities come straight from the doors I knocked this fall,” Allen added. “I fought for these issues before, and when re-elected will keep fighting so Minnesotans are put first. Together, we will make our great state of Minnesota affordable, accountable, and prosperous once again.”
