Ostertag siblings, Cody and Anna children of Ben and Dana Ostertag, earn high honors at the Minnesota State Fair. Cody won Grand Champion Angus Steer while Anna received Reserve Champion Angus Steer. Both earned a spot in the Minnesota 4-H Purple Ribbon Livestock Auction which was held on August 23, 2025.
Siblings are very used to competing against each other in the ring, but it is far more than that. Raising and showing livestock has taught them teamwork, dedication, sportsmanship, resilience and self-discipline. Although, Cody does most of the heavy lifting at home, spending endless hours with daily chores and tending to show animals in the barn, Anna still finds time outside of being a three-sport athlete to raise and show her own Angus cattle.
“It was truly an honor to receive top achievements at this level and participate in the Minnesota 4-H Purple Ribbon Livestock Auction says Cody Ostertag”. This was a significant goal of mine, and dreams came true at the 2025 MN State Fair.
The moment when they were the final two in the show ring was truly bittersweet. As parents, we couldn’t be prouder of their hard work, preparation and teamwork. As a family, Ostertag Angus would like to thank all the generous sponsors who helped purchased Cody and Anna’s premium ribbons. We couldn’t have done it without all of you! Thank you for supporting not only our kids, but those involved in the 4-H youth program, says Dana Ostertag.
