If you are looking for a night out, look no further than the KW Talent Showcase. On Friday, January 16th, beginning at 7 pm, local performers will gather to raise money for the KW theatre. The entirety of the proceeds will be dedicated to purchasing costumes, props, and set pieces for the upcoming performances of The Little Mermaid.
Performers for this Talent Showcase will include both current KW students and KW alumni. Current students who will be performing include Elsie Braaten, Ben Dierks, Olivar Breyer, Shaun Hargarten, and Gunner Carlstrom. KW alumni who will be performing include Amber Olson, Sophia Doscher, Terra Haugen, Mary Gail Anderson, and Ashley Rectzigel. Talents will consist of various singing ensembles, including solos, a duet, and a trio. The talent show will also include a debut performance of “Twitch,” which will be a one-act play performed by KW students. One-act performers will go on to compete in a contest after the debut of “Twitch.”
Director Randy “Hock” Hockinson is looking forward to this talent show. He says that this showcase is “a chance for people to see local talent.” The KW community has many talented individuals, and the showcase is an opportunity for these talents to be seen. The talent show will be held in the KW auditorium. Run time will be approximately 80 minutes. General admission seating with a free-will offering at the door.
The fundraiser is ultimately a way to promote the upcoming performances of The Little Mermaid. Ashley Rectzigel, a KW graduate (’23), is excited for this play and encourages everyone to come see it. Olivar Breyer, a senior at KW, is also eager for The Little Mermaid. Breyer has been a dedicated actor on the KW stage since he was in fifth grade. He has enjoyed being involved in over 10 plays throughout his time at KW and said that “the magic of the first play just really hooked me.” Breyer will be playing Chef Louis in The Little Mermaid. Adalee Geisinger, a KW senior, has also been a long-time performer on the KW stage. She is particularly excited about this performance because she knows many of the cast members and is eager to help out backstage. Geisinger will play Ursula in The Little Mermaid.
Opening night for The Little Mermaid will be on Thursday, March 5, at 7 pm.
