Marcella June Gaasedelen, 78, of Kenyon, died Saturday, June 1, 2024 at her home.
She was born on March 12, 1946 in Faribault the daughter of Theodore and Hilda (Shelstad) Helgeson. Marcie graduated from Kenyon High School in 1964. She married Charles Gaasedelen on November 26, 1966 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenyon. Marcie worked for Security State Bank in Kenyon before attending beauty school. After beauty school, she opened and ran a beauty shop in her home for many years. She also worked part-time at Kenyon Elementary School as an aide.
Marcie was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday school, made centerpieces and banners, and enjoyed helping the church with decorations. Marcie enjoyed painting, drawing, Norwegian rosemaling, nature and being outdoors. She loved time spent with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (and Brian) Dahl of Kenyon, Stacy (and Jason) Quam of Kenyon; granddaughters, Siri Quam, Mara Quam, Josi Quam, Mali Quam, Corynne Dahl, Julia Dahl; brother, Steve (and Jenny) Hildebrandt of Cannon Falls; sisters, Linda Hildebrandt of Kenyon, Betty Redfield of Nerstrand; nephews, Brian Redfield, Logan Hildebrandt, Gage Hildebrandt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Gaasedelen; parents, Theodore Helgeson and Hilda Helgeson Hildebrandt; stepfather, Marvin Hildebrandt; niece Teresa Pittman; brother-in-law, David Redfield.
Memorial services were held Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at 2pm at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kenyon. Pastor Kris D. H. Ferkin officiated. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church.
