Maurice Charles "Brownie" Goodman, age 88, of Wanamingo, passed away Thursday, October 29th, 2026 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems-Methodist Hospital in Rochester after a long complicated illness.

Brownie was born March 21st, 1938 near Douglas, MN, to parents, Glenn and Helen (Rossi) Goodman. He was the fourth of five children. Raised in the Rochester area, he attended class in a one- room schoolhouse until 6th grade and then went to Rochester Central High School, graduating with the class of 1956. He then married Roberta "Bobbie" Tawyea; the birth of four children completed their family. Brownie was a member of the Wanamingo Volunteer Fire Department beginning on April 2, of 1973 - retiring on September 1, 1994, concluding a 21 year- 5 month commitment of service to his community, Something he shared with his son, Scott. He and his family love to hunt, fish, camp, take rides on weekends to visit relatives and venture to the cabin at Red Lake. Brownie loved to garden and care for the land, helping neighbors and friends with chores or fieldwork... he was always willing to lend a hand.

Brownie and Bobbie were members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Wanamingo since 1968. Many things can be said about being a farm kid through-and-through, which carried into his family. He was an example of a hardworking, dedicated, dependable, and gentle person; as well as a father who was always there. These were evident as the great legacy Brownie leaves for others to carry forward. Brownie was not one to make a fuss, a pretty regular guy... unless you didn't put something back in its place or made a mess. He would much rather take sweets, especially chocolate chip cookies over a bowl of chicken noodle soup. He was not a fan of heights or anything up high, but it didn't stop him if someone needed help.

Brownie is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Bobbie Goodman of Wanamingo; daughter, Susan Bodenhamer of Zumbrota; son, Scott (Jen) Goodman of Zumbrota; daughter-in-law, Teri Goodman of Wanamingo; grandchildren, Zebadiah Goodman of Wanamingo, Madilynn Goodman of Albert Lea and Nick Adamson of Zumbrota; special aunt, Elaine Kohrs of Lake City; sister-in-law, Mary Goodman of Zumbrota; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Brownie is preceded in death by his son, Christopher Goodman; daughter, JoAnn Goodman; son-in-law, Albert Bodenhamer; sisters, Margaret (Walton) Kyllo and Barbara Goodman; brothers, Willis (Eloise) Goodman and Kenneth Goodman.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at 11 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wanamingo with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to Wanamingo Fire and Rescue or a charity of your choice.
