The Wanamingo Nature Trail Pedestrian Walking Bridge Ramp repairs were started after hitting some snags in 2025. Homestead Restoration started demolition on July 14th and completed the repairs in good time. The bridge was closed to the public during the repairs for safety reasons. The bridge was damaged by a fire in May 2025 that started when a golf cart parked under the bridge caught fire and destroyed it and some of the surrounding area. The original contractor that was awarded the work late last summer was unable to obtain materials and then be able to schedule completion of the work in 2025. The contractor and the City mutually agreed to void the contract in May 2026 due to additional scheduling conflicts. Homestead Restoration was awarded the project as second lowest bidder. They were able to obtain materials and work the project into their July schedule. Thank you, Jacob Vredenburg, for being able to rearrange your work schedule to help out the community with the bridge ramp repairs! So, get out and enjoy the trails this summer and fall!
