Pasta Anyone?

Posted

Well, I hear it's that time of year when the Pasta Dinner rolls around. In fact, this year marks the 25th year of eating pasta to support the Kenyon Wanamingo Memorial Field Fundraiser. This fundraiser helps maintain the Varsity Baseball/Softball fields in Wanamingo. It will be held at the Wanamingo Community Center on Main Street from 5 to 7 pm on March 14th. Catered by our own Area 57 Cafe once again, the menu consists of a rigatoni pasta with red sauce and meat, Caesar salad, French bread, dessert, and a beverage of choice. The beverages include water, lemonade and coffee. This dinner is a free will donation, and you can choose to dine in, or take out. For the drive up, just pull up in front of the Community Center, tell them how many meals you need, and they will bring it out to your car. Doesn't get any easier than that!

Speaking with Head Coach Kirby VanDeWalker, I found out there is a lot to do to maintain the fields, and it takes a lot of money to do it right. This is one of the only fundraisers to keep it well groomed, and to pay for all the extras that keep the fields safe, and the equipment up to date. Our kids deserve to play on a well groomed field with safe equipment, and since the games are free to the public, supporting the teams in this way helps defray the costs. Of course, while you are at the games, be sure to stop by the concession stand for snacks to munch on while you cheer them on!

In any case, bring the family out for a nice dinner to support this worthy cause! Hope to see you there!
